      안녕하십니까? 먼저 모든분들이 건강하시고 안전하게 지내시길 바라겠습니다. 

      2022 AKN Annual Meeting의 일시와 장소는 다음과 같음을 알려드립니다.

       

      • Date: November 14, 2022 (Monday)
      • Time: 6:30 – 9:30 PM (seated dinner included)
      • Location: Embassy Suites by Hilton San Diego Bay Downtown (10 min walk from the Convention Center)

       

      그리고 이번 AKN Annual Meeting 2차 공고에서는 기존의 AKN 학술상에 더하여 새로운 학술상 (Junior Research Scientist)이 신설되었음을 알려드립니다. 자세한 내용은 이 Announcement끝에 첨부한2022 AKN Outstanding Research Awards를 참조하시기 바랍니다.

      학술상에 지원하시기를 원하시는 분들은 2022 SfN abstract (대학원생과 Post-doc분들에게만 해당)와 CV를PDF화일로 만드셔서 아래에 있는 이메일로 제출하시길 바랍니다.

      Dear friends and colleagues,

      On behalf of the AKN (Association of Korean Neuroscientists in America https://www.akneuro.org), we announce the 2022 AKN annual meeting and AKN Research Awards. This meeting will be the in-person meeting and co-hosted by KSBNS and IBS.

      Please help us disseminate this information by sharing with colleagues in your institution or elsewhere. We would greatly appreciate your help.

      AKN Meeting: 

        • Date: November 14, 2022 (Monday)
      • Time: 6:30 – 9:30 PM (seated dinner included)
      • Location: Embassy Suites by Hilton San Diego Bay Downtown (10 min walk from the Convention Center)

      Pre-registration will be required and accepted until the limited seats are filled. The details of the pre-registration, meeting format and seat arrangement will be provided in the 3rd announcement later this month.

      AKN Outstanding Research Awards: Deadline, October 31, 2022 (Monday)

      We will present four types of AKN Outstanding Research Awards: (1) Pre-doctoral award ($400), (2) Post-doctoral award ($500), (3) Junior Research Scientist Award ($700) and (4) Junior Faculty Award ($1,000).

      Please note that Junior Research Scientist Award will be newly presented from this year. You may find all details on how and when to apply at the end of this announcement. 


      We encourage you to also look at ads and available positions in the AKN website (https://www.akneuro.org), which were from AKN sponsors and AKN faculty members.

      2022 AKN Outstanding Research Awards:


      1. Pre- and Post-doctoral trainees

      We will present AKN Outstanding Research Awards in four different categories for Pre- and Post-doctoral trainees: 1) Pre-doctoral in Korea 2) Pre-doctoral abroad, 3) Postdoctoral in Korea, and 4) Postdoctoral abroad. The number of awards may vary depending on the number of qualified applicants and the availability of funding. 

      Award recipients will be selected according to 1) the quality of their SfN abstract and 2) their research accomplishments during their current career status. For Postdoctoral fellows, their accomplishments during the graduate student period will not be considered.

      Each award recipient will receive a $400 (pre-doctoral) or $500 (postdoctoral) prize along with an award certificate. 

      What to submit (Format: Only one PDF file for all submission materials)

      • a full CV (including complete publication record)
      • a copy of your first-author SfN abstract for poster/oral presentation and related information (e.g., presentation time)

      Application should be sent as an e-mail attachment (Only one PDF file) to: 

      • KSBNS (neuro@ksbns.org) if you are from an institute located in Korea.
      • Dr. Jungsu Kim (jk123@iu.edu) if you are from an institute located outside Korea including the USA. Please use “AKN Award Application – Your name” in the email subject line.

      An award recipient must be physically present at the award ceremony (if not, the awardee will be disqualified). 

       

      1. Junior Research Scientist Award (Limited to applicants in the USA & Canada)

      The following scientists are eligible for this award:

      • Scientists working at an academic institution who completed their postdoctoral training within the last 7 years. Examples: Currently at the rank of Instructor, non-tenure track Assistant Professor, Research Associate, Postdoctoral fellow, or any equivalent position at an academic institution
      • Scientists working in Industry (within 14 years of experience after obtaining their Ph.D. Examples: 7 years of postdoc + 7 years in Industry, or 5 years of postdoc + 9 years in Industry)

      (If there is any question about the eligibility, please reach out to Dr. Jungsu Kim (jk123@iu.edu).

      Their accomplishments during the graduate student and postdoctoral training period will not be considered.

      Each award recipient will receive a $700 prize along with an award certificate. 

      What to submit (Format: Only one PDF file)

      • a full CV (including complete publication record)

      An award recipient must be physically present at the award ceremony (if not, the awardee will be disqualified). 

       

      1. Junior Faculty Award (Limited to applicants in the USA & Canada)
        For this award category, we will pay special emphasis to the applicant’s academic and scientific accomplishments as an independent principal investigator (i.e., senior-author publication, R01 grant, etc.).Their accomplishments during the graduate student and postdoctoral training period will not be considered.
      • Eligibility is limited to an Assistant Professor or an equivalent level at an academic institution with 3 – 7 years of experience in the current position

      The winner will be invited to present his/her work at the meeting and awarded a $1,000 prize.

      What to submit (Format: Only one PDF file)

      • a full CV (including complete publication record)

      Disqualifications

      1) previous winners of the same category awards

      2) applicants who are over-qualified by spending more than 7 years at the current position

      3) non-presenting author of the SfN abstract (for students/postdoctoral applicants).
