      A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available to investigate the mechanisms of astrocyte-neuron interactions in context-dependent reward seeking and alcohol use disorder in Dr. Seungwoo Kang’s Laboratory at UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School, Institute of Molecular Medicine, Center for Neuroimmunology and Glial Biology (www.kanglab.org).

      We are looking for highly motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative candidates with experience in electrophysiological recording and/or calcium imaging in rodents to join our research team. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently with minimal supervision within a multidisciplinary, diverse group. This postdoctoral position offers early-career researchers the opportunity to gain valuable experience, develop independent research skills, learn cutting-edge techniques, and contribute to advancing scientific knowledge in the field.

      • A recent PhD or equivalent in the field of neuroscience, pharmacology, psychology, computer science or a related scientific field, or candidates who are soon to complete their PhD.
      • Experience in one or more of the following will be an added advantage: electrophysiology, rodent behavioral evaluation combining opto-/chemo-genetics, fiber-photometry, head-mount miniature microscopy, EEG recording, and stereotaxic surgery.
      • Candidates with experience in computational analysis will also be preferred.
      • Development of new projects for possible grant proposal submission and collaboration with other faculty members are strongly encouraged.
