Looking for highly motivated postdoctoral fellow(s) for a project associated with Yap/Taz or Sensory axon regeneration to extend the following, recent findings of Son laboratory.

      (1) TEAD1 predominently mediate YAP/TAZ to develop and repair Schwann cell myelination. Grove M…Son YJ (in preparation)
      (2) Oligodendrocyte progenitors synaptogenetically stop sensory axons regenerating into the spinal cord. Kim H…Son YJ (in preparation)
      (3) Co-targeting BRAF and PTEN in IB4+ neurons drives topographic and functional regeneration of broad sensory neurons. Kim H, Noristiani H…Son YJ (in preparation)
      (4) Co-targeting myelin inhibitors and CSPGs markedly enhances regeneration of GDNF-stimulated, but not conditioning-lesioned, sensory axons into the spinal cord. Zhai J…Son YJ, eLIFE 2021 DOI: 10.7554/eLife.63050
      (5) Axon-dependent expression of YAP/TAZ mediates Schwann cell remyelination but not proliferation after nerve injury. Grove M…Son YJ, Elife. 2020 doi: 10.7554/eLife.50138.
      (6) YAP/TAZ initiate and maintain Schwann cell myelination. Grove M…Son YJ, Elife. 2017 doi: 10.7554/eLife.20982.

Using mice, we apply microsurgery, widefield and multiphoton in vivo imaging, conditional/inducible transgenic mice, in vivo AAV or lenti viral transduction, neuronal and glial cell cultures, electrophysiology, TEM/SEM, confocal microscopy, behavioral analysis of motor and sensory functions, IP, Chip-seq, proteomics or RNAseq profiling. Applicants must be competent with at least some of these techniques and have a prior research experience with axon regeneration, Hippo signaling, SC myelination, OPCs, viral gene therapy or Schwannoma cancer biology.
Our Center is focused on spinal cord and peripheral nerve regeneration offering excellent training opportunity for students in the field. Salary will follow NIH scale with excellent benefit package.
