AKN 회원님께,

Society for Neuroscience (SfN) 프로그램 위원회의 위원으로서, 2023년 SfN annual meeting 을 위한 symposia, minisymposia, featured panels, 그리고 SfN-Sponsored Socials 에 대한 참여를 부탁하고자 합니다. 2023 SfN meeting은 11월 11일부터 15일까지 Washington DC 에서 개최됩니다. 신경과학에 대한 흥미로운 학회가 될 것이며, 여러분의 적극적인 참여로 학회의 질이 더욱 높아질 것이라 기대합니다.

Proposal 제출에 대한 자세한 내용은  http://www.sfn.org/am2023 에서 확인하실 수 있습니다. Proposal 제출은 한국 시간 2023년 1월 25일 수요일 오전 7시 (Tuesday, January 24, 2023, by 5 p.m. EST)에 마감됩니다.

SfN은 다양성과 포용성을 우선적으로 고려하며, 프로그램 조직은 모든 구성원을 대표할 수 있어야 합니다. SfN은 다양한 집단의 참여, 접근성, 적극적인 대표성 및 리더십을 장려합니다. Proposal에 제안된 발표자는 다양한 과학자를 적절하게 대표할 수 있어야 하며, 이것은 프로그램 위원회가 세션을 선택할 때 고려하는 주요 기준 중 하나가 될 것입니다. 프로그램 구성에 참여할 연사를 찾고 계신다면, 이 링크를 통하여 다양한 배경의 연사분들을 찾을 수 있습니다.

지난 2년간 SfN annual meeting 에서 symposia, minisymposia, 또는 featured panels에 연사로 참여했던 분들은 2023년 SfN meeting 의 해당 세션에 참석할 수 없습니다. 과거 발표경력이 있는 연사분들의 목록은 submission site 또는 이 링크에서 확인할 수 있습니다.

참고로 Neuroscience 2022에서 선정된 세션은 http://www.sfn.org/nmp 에서 확인할 수 있습니다.

Symposium 발표자는 top researcher 로 구성되는 경향이 있지만, minisymposium 에서는 junior investigator (senior postdocs, junior faculty)들이 흥미로운 최첨단 연구를 공식적인 자리에서 폭넓은 청중에게 발표할 수 있는 기회를 제공하고자 합니다.

Featured panels 의 경우,

l  Storytelling Session은 자신의 경험과 관련된 이야기를 들려줌으로써 과학자들이 과학계 안팎에서 소통하는 방법에 대해 중점을 둡니다.

l  Dual Perspectives Session은 참가자들 간의 독선으로 이루어진 논쟁이 발생하는 것을 지양합니다. 청중과 발표자가 적극적으로 질문과 답변에 참여함으로써 동일한 과정이나 현상에 대하여 서로 다른 관점에서 이야기를 나누며, 더 건설적인 토론을 장려하고자 합니다.

l  Basic-Translational-Clinical Roundtables은 새로운 개발, 논쟁 또는 업데이트에 특히 중점을 두고 질병/장애의 기본적, 임상 적용 및 임상적 측면을 통합합니다.

SfN-Sponsored Socials은 모든 annual meeting 참석자들이 공통의 과학적 관심사를 공유하는 사람들과 비공식적으로 만날 수 있는 기회를 제공하기 위해 고안된 행사입니다. 이 모임은 SfN의 테마와 주제에 부합해야 합니다.

Dear AKN members, 

 

As members of the Society for Neuroscience (SfN) Program Committee, We are writing to encourage you to submit high-quality proposals for the symposia, minisymposia, featured panels, and SfN-Sponsored Socials for the 2023 SfN annual meeting. The meeting will be held in Washington, DC, November 11-15. It will be an exciting meeting at an exciting time in neuroscience, and your active participation will further enhance the quality of the meeting.

 

More information is available at http://www.sfn.org/am2023. All proposals will be due by Tuesday, January 24, 2023, by 5 p.m. EST.

 

Diversity and inclusion are organizational priorities of SfN and programming must ensure representation of all members. SfN encourages and promotes participation, accessibility, active representation, and leadership from diverse populations. Appropriate representation of diverse scientists among the presenters is required and will be among the key criteria considered in the selection of sessions by the Program Committee. Looking for a speaker?  Utilize these resources created by external organizations to identify speakers from diverse backgrounds.

 

Speakers who have participated in symposia, minisymposia, or featured panels in the past two annual meetings will not be eligible to participate in those sessions for 2023. A list of ineligible speakers is available on the submission site.

While symposium presenters tend to be top researchers, the minisymposium format is intended to provide an opportunity for junior investigators (including senior postdocs and junior faculty) to present exciting and cutting-edge research in a formal setting to a broad audience. 

 

For the featured panels:

• The Storytelling Session is centered around how scientists can communicate within and outside of the scientific community by telling stories related to their experiences.  
• The Dual Perspectives Session aims not to incite dogmatic point-counterpoint arguments among participants. Rather, the goal is to present descriptions of the same process or phenomenon from different viewpoints such that promote constructive discussion and engage the audience in active questions and answers with the presenters.
• The Basic-Translational-Clinical Roundtables integrate basic, translational, and clinical aspects of a disease/disorder with particular emphasis on new developments, controversies, or updates.

 

SfN-Sponsored Socials are networking events designed to provide an opportunity for all annual meeting attendees to meet informally with others who share common scientific interests. The social must align with SfN’s themes and topics.
