Job Description

Postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Eckardt Treuter at the Karolinska Institutet Stockholm to investigate the physiological roles of coregulators in nuclear receptor signaling, with an emphasis on metabolic and inflammatory pathways.

Successful applicants will join our efforts to uncover the multifaceted roles of nuclear receptors and their transcriptional coregulators in human physiology and disease. We have recently identified coregulator (i.e. GPS2 & associates) - dependent epigenomic mechanisms that selectively trigger metabolic versus anti-inflammatory pathways governed by lipid-activated nuclear receptors (Jakobsson Molecular Cell 34, 2009; Venteclef Genes & Development 24, 2010). To further understand theses mechanisms and their implications for diseases linked to inflammation and metabolism, we utilize a multidisciplinary approach involving conditional knockout (ongoing) and knock-in (envisaged) mice, RNA interference (including virus-mediated in vivo delivery), genome-wide technologies (such as ChIP-sequencing), and clinical collaborations. Applicants must have a strong background (Ph.D., publication record) in molecular cell biology, molecular physiology and/or molecular medicine. Previous experience with mouse models of metabolic and inflammatory diseases is an advantage.

Positions are available during 2011 for initially two years, with the possibility for extension.
