A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jin M. Chung, at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas, for a patch-clamp electrophysiologist who is interested in synaptic plasticity in pain. The main research interest of this lab is the pathophysiological mechanisms of neuropathic pain. Recent findings from Dr. Chung's lab indicate that reactive oxygen species (ROS) are acting as intracellular signaling molecules in the spinal dorsal horn neurons in chronic pain conditions. Present efforts are to unveil the mechanisms of oxidative stress that are involved in generation and maintenance of the sensitization of spinal dorsal horn neurons.
