Two postdoctoral fellows (received a PhD degree within 3 years) are being sought for a project
(1) to test the role of NG2+ glia in sensory nerve regeneration into spinal cord (newly funded by NIH RO1), or
(2) to promote long distance regeneration of peripheral nerves by reverting atrophy of Schwann cells or distal neural tissues in chronically denervated muscles, or
(3) to re-establish intraspinal reflex circuits after spinal cord or root injury
Using mice, we apply microsurgery, widefield and multiphoton in vivo imaging, conditional/inducible transgenic mice, in vivo AAV or lenti viral transduction, neuronal and glial cell cultures, electrophysiology, array tomography, TEM/SEM, immunoEM, confocal microscopy, behavioral analysis of motor and sensory functions. Applicants must be competent with at least some of these techniques.
Our Center is focused on spinal cord and peripheral nerve regeneration offering excellent training opportunity for students in the field. Salary will follow NIH scale with excellent benefit package.
