On behalf of the Association of Korean Neuroscientists (AKN), it is our great pleasure to announce the 2016 AKN meeting and the 2016 AKN Research Awards as below.

Please join us and enjoy the friendship of fellow Korean Neuroscientists. Pre-registration (web page: https://goo.gl/m4Y4kv) will be required as there are limited seats. The details of the meeting’s format will be announced in due course.

Time: 6:30-9:30 PM (seated dinner included)

AKN Outstanding Research Awards:

As in previous years, we will select and present AKN Outstanding Research Awards in 4 different categories: Postdoctoral abroad, Postdoctoral in Korea, Pre-doctoral abroad, and Pre-doctoral in Korea. The number of awards may vary, depending on several factors such as the number of qualified applicants. Each award recipient will get $400 prize.

Award recipients will be determined by 1) the quality of their abstract, and 2) their overall research accomplishments. An award recipient must be present at the award ceremony to be eligible (if absent, the award prize cannot be given).

There is a special category for the Junior Faculty Award. One or two winners will be selected from junior members (≤5 years of faculty appointment) at the rank of Assistant Professor or equivalent at an institution in North America. The winner will be invited to present their work at the meeting and will get $1,000 prize. A full CV should be sent to Dr. Daewoo Lee ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Deadline – October 28, 2016 (Friday)

What to send – a full CV (including complete publication record), an abstract for SfN poster/oral presentation, and related information (presentation time and poster/board number). Faculty Award candidates do not need presentation.

Format of material – one PDF file.

Disqualifications – 1) previous winners of the same category; 2) over qualification (over 5 years in the current position, appointment to a higher position, etc.); and 3) non-presenting author of the poster (for students/postdocs).
