AKN 학술상의 지원을 받고 있습니다. 마감일은 10월 31일로 얼마 남지 않았습니다. 올해의 AKN 학술상은 네부분에서 수상하게 됩니다: (1) Pre-doctoral, (2) Post-doctoral trainees, (3) Junior Research Scientist, (4) Junior Faculty Awards. 올해 Predoctoral, Postdoctoral, Junior Research Scientist award는 포스터 발표를 기준으로 선정됩니다. 자세한 내용은 아래와 같습니다.예년과 마찬가지로 다수의 회사와 연구기관에서 올해도 적극적으로 후원을 해 주신 덕분에 순조롭게 AKN 학술상 수여와 In-person meeting을 계획할 수 있게 되었습니다.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,On behalf of the AKN (Association of Korean Neuroscientists in America https://www.akneuro.org), we would like to invite you to the 2026 AKN Annual Meeting. This meeting will be an in-person meeting and co-hosted by KSBNS (Korean Society for Brain and Neural Sciences).
Please help us disseminate this information by sharing it with colleagues in your institution or elsewhere. We would greatly appreciate your help.

3. AKN Outstanding Research Awards: Deadline, October 31, 2026
We will present four types of AKN Outstanding Research Awards: (1) Pre-doctoral Award, (2) Post-doctoral Award, (3) Junior Research Scientist Award, (4) Junior Faculty Award. This year’s Predoctoral, Postdoctoral, and Junior Research Scientists awards will be based on poster presentations. Details are below.We wish to see you all in Washington, DC in November.
AKN Outstanding Research Awards:
General application info
Deadline – October 31, 2026 (5 PM local time of the applicant)
Please submit your application only once. Revised and late submissions will not be considered.
Note: If an applicant was a previous awardee of any AKN award, please indicate the previous award and highlight it in yellow in your CV.
We will have one-year transition period exception. If your current title is postdoc but still within one year of your transition, you are eligible to apply for the predoctoral award. Likewise, research scientists and junior research scientists are eligible for their previous-position award.Disqualifications
1) Previous winners of the same category awards. (An application to other categories is welcomed.)
2) Applicants who are over-qualified by spending more than 7 years at the current position.
3) Non-presenting author of the SfN poster (relevant only for Pre- and Post-doctoral trainee categories)
4) Any application that does not follow the instructions will not be reviewed. (e.g., missing the deadline, sending multiple PDF files, etc.)
5) An award recipient must be physically present at the award ceremony (if not, the awardee will be disqualified). This year’s AKN will be held on November 16th, 2026 at the Washington Plaza Hotel in Washington, D.C., at 6:30–9:30 pm1. Poster Award
We accept applications for a poster session this year. The posters will be displayed during the AKN annual meeting. We will pre-select 40 posters before the AKN annual meeting. The selected presenters will receive a poster award and a gift card in recognition of their participation. We will then select AKN Outstanding Poster Awards in six different categories for Pre-, Post-doctoral trainees, and Senior Research Scientists: 1) Pre-doctoral in Korea and abroad 2) Pre-doctoral in US, 3) Postdoctoral in Korea and abroad, and 4) Postdoctoral in US, 5) Research Scientist in Korea and abroad, and 6) Research Scientist in US during the AKN annual meeting. The number of awards may vary depending on the number of qualified applicants and the availability of funding.
Award recipients will be selected according to the quality of their poster and presentation.Each Outstanding Poster Award recipient will receive a cash prize along with an award certificate. Recipients of Outstanding Poster Award will not receive a separate participation gift card.
What to submit (Format: Only one PDF file for all submission materials)
- a copy of your first-author SfN abstract for poster/oral presentation and related information (e.g., presentation format (oral vs poster), presentation date & time, and abstract #)
- poster in PDF file
- A full CV

For this award category, we will place special emphasis on the applicant’s scholarly accomplishments as an independent principal investigator (i.e., senior-author publication, R01 grant, etc.). Their accomplishments during the graduate student and postdoctoral training period will not be considered.
Eligibility is limited to an Assistant Professor or an equivalent level at an academic institution with 2–7 years of experience in the current positionThe winner will be invited to present his/her work at the meeting and awarded a $1,000 prize.
