Bylaws of the Association
Article I. NAME
The name of the Association shall be the Association of Korean Neuroscientists.
Article II. PURPOSE
The purpose of the Association shall be to promote education in the Neurosciences for Korean neuroscientists in North America and to enhance relationships among members.
Article III. MEMBERSHIP
Section 1. Members.
The Association shall consist of two classes of members: regular members and members in Korea. Membership will be approved by the Council.
Section 2. Regular members.
Any neuroscientist residing in North America who wishes to promote education in the Neurosciences for Korean neuroscientists is eligible.
Section 3. Members in Korea.
Any regular member who has returned to reside in the Republic of Korea is eligible.
Section 4. Membership fees.
All regular members shall be charged an annual membership fee. The membership fee shall be proposed by the Council and shall be approved by a simple majority of votes by members attending the Annual Meeting.
Article IV. MEETINGS
The Association membership shall meet annually at a place, date, and hour designated be the Council. This meeting shall take place during the period of the Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuroscience. Special meetings of the membership may be called be the Council.
Article V. OFFICERS
Section 1. Officers.
The Association shall have three Officers: the President; the Secretary; and the Treasurer.
Section 2. Election of officers.
All Officers shall be elected by a simple majority of votes of attending members at the Annual Meeting, shall serve for a term of two years, and shall be members of Council.
Section 3. The President.
The President shall be the chief executive officer of the Association, shall be responsible for all business of the Association and shall act as spokesperson for the Association.
Section 4. The Secretary.
The Secretary shall assist the President. The Secretary shall substitute for the President in case of absence or inability to serve. Should the office of President become vacant, the Secretary shall assume the duties of the President until a new
one is elected. Should the office of Secretary become vacant, the President shall appoint a new Secretary for the remaining term of office.
Section 5. The Treasurer.
The Treasurer shall be responsible for all fiscal matters of the Association. The office of Treasurer may be served by the Secretary. The President shall appoint a new Treasurer for the remaining term should the office of Treasurer become vacant.
Article VI. COUNCIL
The Association's affairs shall be conducted through a Council.
Section 1. Members of Council.
The Council shall consist of the President, the Secretary, the Treasurer, and 3-5 elected Councilors.
Section 2. Election of Councilors.
Councilors shall be elected by a simple majority of votes of attending members at the Annual Meeting and shall serve for a term of two years.
Article VII. COMMITTEES
The President may appoint or designate members of the Association to serve as members of a Presidential Advisory Committee as deemed appropriate.
Article VIII. AMENDMENTS
These bylaws may be amended by a simple majority of votes by attending members at the Annual Meeting.
